The committee has received a very substantial quote from Electra Lifts to carry out repairs/upgrade of the lift equipment to get the it operational. Electra is the firm which currently has the contract to maintain the lift.
You’ll appreciate the lift is very old equipment and Electra advises that spare parts for many of the components are no longer available or difficult to locate. Given the overall state of the lift and the value of the work Electra is recommending, the committee is considering carrying out a full refit of the lift to bring it up to standard (eg, update the equipment, install emergency phones etc).

We have sought and received quotations from two independent firms to evaluate the overall condition of the lift and provide us with a plan on the most cost effective and efficient way to move forward.
We are conscious of the inconvenience of not having the lift but we also want to ensure the work is cost effective given the lift is one of the most expensive items on the Capital Works Plan.
There is a sense of urgency about the work and we will continue to keep you updated.
