The waterproofing, installation of new doors/windows, and tiling have all been completed on the affected units. After the rain of the last couple of days, grouting will be carried out from tomorrow, Friday 20 December. Outstanding work in the New Year includes 'make good' in units damaged by the construction, installation of new guttering on the rear of the building, repair of a number of roof tiles, installation of the balustrades on the affected rear balconies and then final clean up (and removal of scaffolding).
Even though the tiles will be completed, residents in the affected apartments are asked, for safety reasons, not to use the balconies until the new balustrades have been secured. To comply with current building regulations, the new balustrades need to be a little higher than the originals. The committee opted for a bespoke option to minimise the visual impact and to ensure they meet the required height but are no higher (given the balustrades are mounted on a hob). The balustrades are currently being fabricated.
