Veggie Patch

The wet, dark winter meant a fairly dismal crop from the veggie patch. We got some carrots, silverbeet and swedes but the peas and other winter crops failed to germinate or thrive with the poor conditions. With the arrival of spring and hopefully a little more warmth and light to balance the expected rain, we've started planting.

If you're interested, attached is a layout for the garden over the spring/summer season. The layout takes account of what was planted in the beds last year (ie, crop rotation). Most things are in except for beans, cabbage and potatoes. Potatoes were a big success last year so we'll plant some in the coming weeks. If you want to add anything, please go ahead.
Hopefully the fast crops like lettuce and radishes should be available to pick in the next month or so. Most of the lettuce are pick and grow varieties so once they come on you can just take the leaves you need from the base of the plant and leave it to keep producing.
While there's slim pickings at the moment, there are plenty of herbs: thyme, sage, mint, rosemary, tarragon, bay, oregano, chives. There's scant parsley but it should come on fairly soon.
